From Garden to High Place
A Parable of Faith, Philosophy, and Mental Illness
I find it a challenge to tell my personal story. Doing so in dry terms usually doesn’t resonate with people: Most folks can’t easily relate to an “intellectualist” mindset. Nor can they fathom the interior torment that faulty neuronal wiring and upset brain chemistry can cause.
So, I decided to tell my story as a parable -- a story about a story. I ended up illustrating the parable using my kids' art. I figured I'd bought enough art supplies, and stepped over enough craft projects, over the years to justify my doing so!
The print version of the book turned out quite lovely. E-book versions are also available. See links below!

Footnotes
I chose to self-publish From Garden to High Place. I did so mostly because I didn't want to wait on getting it "out." I also wanted full creative control over the whole process. To that end, I created my own little publishing imprint - Lampshade Bookworks.
Original 4/20/16. Revised 6/11/16.
